Who is the OPD for?
You can get the Office's support and services if:
- You are experiencing the effects of a disability or chronic health problem. You do not need to have formal disability status. It is important that your health condition is confirmed by medical documentation;
- You experience temporary health problems that make the standard regulations of the study process a barrier for you. E.g. limit of permitted absences, need for handwritten notes, session deadline;
- Your health condition has a significant impact on your ability to study effectively or to undertake various activities that are important to your functioning at university;

How to get support from OPD
- Register with the Office for People with Disabilities. Include information about your difficulties, your expectations, and accommodations you had previously, if any. We will contact you and determine the next steps.
- Be sure to provide current medical documentation of your condition or disability. If you have any doubts or questions about documentation, don't hesitate to contact the Office.
- Our Consultant will schedule an appointment with you and discuss the individual support and other OPD services such as transport, adaptations of materials, equipment rental and quiet rooms available at the University of Warsaw. More about the services available.
How can the OPD assist students/staff?
The Office for Persons with Disabilities helps to ensure equality in study, work, and participation in university life. The OPD bases its work on the social model of disability derived from the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Read more about the tasks of the OPD.
The OPD supports students and employees, among other things, through recommendations on the study process, reasonable adjustments of examinations, the elimination of architectural and digital barriers. It actively assists through consultation and assistance, transport and adaptation of materials. The OPD actively supports the study process, e.g. through the development and provision of aids using 3D printing techniques or Braille printing.
The OPD monitors processes and policies at the University in terms of compliance with legislation defining the rights of people with disabilities. It provides consultation and training on accessibility and working with people with disabilities and learning difficulties.
