Information about services
Below is a list of the most common services provided by the OPD according to the type of disability or health problems. Please note that the right to use the service is related to the consequences of disability or illness. The catalog does not show all the solutions we provide.
Students with mobility impairment
- Adaptation of the form of exams to the needs and ability of a student;
- Fully or partially accessible buildings – at least most of them – in which the classes are held;
- For students who study in non-accessible buildings, support of assistants is provided;
- Adjusted space in Students’ Dormitories;
- Transportation in adjusted University buses from the place of study to the place of residence;
- Support for using libraries;
- Possibility of renting laptops and other electronic equipment.
Blind students and visually impaired
- Adapted form of examinations to the needs and abilities of the student;
- Training of spatial orientation around University, Faculty and the place of residence;
- Possibility of renting laptops and other electronic equipment.
- Computer center and adjusted workshops, also possibility of training in using electronic equipment and devices;
- Adaptation of didactic materials, both to the audio and text versions;
- Access to the collection of available academic materials – Academic Digital Library abc.uw.edu.pl.
Deaf students and with hearing impairment
- Adaptation of the form of exams to the needs and ability of a student;
- PJM translators assistance;
- Possibility of renting hearing aid systems;
- Additional individual lessons as a supplementary classes of foreign languages.
Students with mental illnesses and disorders
- Adapted form of participation in classes and the form of examinations;
- Individual solutions based on the type and stage of the disease and the current condition of the student;
- Free psychiatric and psychological counseling.
Students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia
- Adaptation of the form of exams to the needs and ability of a student with learning assistive technologies.
